Iconic Evening Dresses – Fashion Maven A to Z
It’s the day for letter V, and once again a decision must be made. Should I choose Valentino? Or one of several Versace? Don’t forget Diane Von Furstenburg. And then it came to your Fashion Maven, iconic evening dresses.
How much fun can it be to wear the dress of your life from a big name designer to the Academy Awards? So Valentino and Versace it is.
Many of the gowns found on iconic dress lists were designed by Valentino and Versace. A measure of the fame these dresses have attained is due the star who wore them, but considering the awful dresses some of the élite of film choose to wear, the star doesn’t make the dress. The dress must first be amazing.
Several of the dresses below would not appear on your fashion maven’s list of iconic dresses, but, having been limited to the two couture design houses, she was hesitant to eliminate any. She will point to her three favorites: Cate Blanchette in the yellow Valentino, Elizabeth Hurley in the black with safety pins Versace, and Penelope Cruz in the blush, feathered Versace. The feathery ruffles are only part of what makes that gown a work of art. The sculptured bodice is exquisite. The fashion maven would love to know your favorites. Please share in the comments.

And now Versace:
For those who do not know who the Fashion Maven speaks of when she mentions the revered name of Selina Shirley. She is the latest bright star at the House of Shirley established long ago, far in the future on the Federation planet, Tallav. Her love story has been published in Maon: Marshal of Tallav.
